What Ascendia Delivers
The Complete Grill-and-Mesh System

Most window companies sell you a frame and a grill. Ascendia engineers a system — one in which the grill, the mesh, the sealing architecture, the locking mechanism, and the surface finish all work together as a single assembly.
Three Independent Layers — Glass, Grill, Mesh

In an Ascendia 3-track sliding window, each layer operates independently on its own sash track: the glass panel, the security grill, and the mosquito mesh. Open the glass. Lock the grill. Close the mesh. All simultaneously, in any combination, without one layer interfering with another.

The grill channel is not retrofitted. It is machined into the uPVC profile during CNC fabrication — which means the tolerances that keep the grill operating cleanly for 20 years are set before the frame leaves our workshop, not adjusted on installation day.

Every Ascendia window with grill uses G-U (Gretsch-Unitas, Germany) multi-point locking hardware. When the handle is turned, the mechanism engages the sash simultaneously at multiple points across the frame perimeter. The security grill is the secondary barrier. The G-U lock is the primary one. Specifying both — correctly, together — is the difference between a security system and a security appearance.
Inside every Ascendia profile: ISO-tested GI cold-formed steel reinforcement at 1–1.5mm. This is what keeps the frame square under India’s monsoon wind loads and prevents the grill channel from shifting over years of thermal cycling. Frame rigidity and grill alignment are not separate specifications — they are the same engineering decision.
The profile surface — including the grill channel frame — is finished with Renolit UV-stable technology. In India’s high-UV climate, cheaper profiles yellow, lose surface integrity, and develop loose grill-channel fits within a few years. Renolit technology eliminates this failure mode, backed by our 20-year surface weathering warranty.
Before the mesh performs its function, the EPDM double gasket on each sash seals the frame perimeter — closing the window against monsoon wind pressure, fine dust, and insect ingress at the structural level. This is the first barrier. The mesh is the second. Both are part of every Ascendia system.

Important Engineering Note

An external clip-on grill on a 2-track frame is not equivalent to an inbuilt 3-track system. A clip-on grill sits outside the frame and cannot operate independently. In many configurations, it can be removed using ordinary hand tools. Ascendia fabricates every grill directly into the window system during CNC production, creating a true integrated security solution rather than an aftermarket attachment.

uPVC Windows with Grill and Mesh in India

The right question is not: what is the price per square foot? It is: what is inside the price? Two windows at the same per-square-foot number can be entirely different engineering — and deliver entirely different 20-year performance.

Any quote that does not specify grill material and grade, mesh type, track count (inbuilt vs. external), profile series, hardware brand, and warranty terms is an incomplete quote. You cannot compare it against another quote, and you cannot verify what you are buying until the window has been through its first monsoon season.

Frequently Asked Questions
uPVC Windows with Grill and Mesh

What is the difference between a grill and a mosquito mesh on a uPVC window?
A grill is a rigid metal frame — stainless steel, mild steel, or aluminium — that provides a physical security barrier against forced entry. A mosquito mesh is a fine woven screen that allows air to flow while blocking insects. They solve different problems. In a correctly engineered 3-track sliding system, they operate on separate sash tracks, independently of each other and of the glass panel. Both are required for any ground-floor opening where security, ventilation, and insect exclusion are all priorities.
A 3-track sliding window uses three independent sash tracks — one for the glass panel, one for the security grill, one for the mosquito mesh. Each panel operates completely independently. Open the glass, lock the grill, close the mesh — in any combination, simultaneously. In Ascendia’s systems, the grill channel is machined into the profile during CNC fabrication, not added as an external clip-on after installation. The tolerances that keep the grill operating cleanly across its 20-year life are set at fabrication.
Market prices range from Rs.350–550 per sq ft for a 2-track with mesh only, Rs.600–900 for a 3-track inbuilt MS grill with mesh, Rs.750–1,100 for a 3-track SS 304 grill with SS mesh, and Rs.1,000–1,500 for invisible grill configurations. Price varies by grill material, mesh grade, track count, profile series, glazing, and hardware. Always request a fully itemised specification — grill material grade, mesh type, profile series, hardware brand, and warranty terms must all be stated.
For coastal cities and high-humidity zones across India — Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Vizag, Goa, Kolkata coastal — stainless steel (SS 304 at minimum; SS 316 for direct sea-facing elevations) is the engineering recommendation. For inland India where direct salt-air exposure is not a factor, powder-coated mild steel provides the highest security rating with manageable maintenance. Aluminium grills are the specification for upper floors where weight and rust-freedom are priorities over maximum security rating.
Yes — materially so, in both security and operational performance. An inbuilt grill operates on a sash track precision-machined into the profile at the fabrication stage. It slides independently, sits within the frame’s engineered tolerances, and cannot be removed from outside. An external clip-on grill attaches to the face of an installed window after the fact. It cannot operate independently for ventilation, it sits outside the frame tolerances, and in most configurations it can be removed from outside with basic hand tools. It was not designed as a primary security element.
Yes — when the system is correctly specified. This means: stainless steel grill (SS 304 minimum; SS 316 for direct sea-facing elevations), stainless steel mosquito mesh, EPDM double-gasket sealing on all sashes, ISO-tested GI steel reinforcement inside the profile, and CNC-fabricated frames with machined grill channels. A poorly specified system in coastal conditions fails visibly within 3–5 years. A correctly specified Ascendia coastal system carries a 10-year complete system warranty and a 20-year Renolit surface weathering warranty.
In a 3-track system, no. The grill operates on its own independent track and slides fully open when maximum ventilation is required — it imposes no restriction on air flow when open. In a 2-track system with a fixed external grill, yes — the grill is permanently in position and reduces the effective ventilation opening. This is one of the principal engineering reasons Ascendia specifies 3-track inbuilt systems for any application where both security and full ventilation are required.
An external clip-on grill can be fitted to most existing uPVC frames after installation. It is not the functional equivalent of an inbuilt grill — it cannot be independently operated, it sits on the frame exterior, and it can typically be removed from outside. For new window installations, always specify grill integration from the design stage. Ascendia includes the grill channel in the profile fabrication — which means it cannot be added later without replacing the frame. Specify it correctly from the start.
Three main types: fiberglass mesh (economy grade — appropriate for inland India, upper floors, shaded exposures; 4–6 years lifespan in coastal/high-UV environments); stainless steel mesh (SS 304 — the durable specification for coastal India and high-humidity zones; 20+ year lifespan); and aluminium mesh (mid-grade — rust-free, good for high-humidity inland zones; 12–15 year lifespan inland). Pet-resistant heavy-duty mesh is also available for homes with animals that use window sills. A correctly specified Ascendia system — Enhanced 62 Series with GI reinforcement, EPDM double-gasket sealing, stainless steel grill, and G-U hardware — is designed for a 20–40 year service life. Ascendia backs this with a 10-year complete system warranty and a 20-year Renolit surface weathering warranty. The grill material determines the maintenance obligation within that lifespan: stainless steel grills (SS 304 or SS 316) require very low maintenance; powder-coated MS grills require annual inspection in coastal zones.
The key difference is grill placement. Sliding windows use a 3-track system where the grill is a panel on its own sash track — sliding on the same plane as the glass. Casement windows open outward on hinges, which means any exterior grill either blocks the window from opening or must itself be hinged and openable from outside — eliminating its security function. The correct specification for a casement window with grill is an interior-fixed or hinged-interior grill on the room side. Multi-point locking (G-U hardware in Ascendia’s systems) is the primary security layer on a casement window.
Six categories: standard horizontal or vertical bar grills in stainless steel (the functional security specification for most residential applications); powder-coated MS grills in geometric, jali, traditional, and modern linear patterns (maximum design flexibility, highest security rating); aluminium grills in powder-coated finishes (lightweight, upper-floor specification); invisible grills using high-tensile stainless steel cables (view-preserved security for high-rise and sea-facing elevations); laser-cut designer panels in aluminium or MS (architectural feature specification for living rooms and entrance foyers); and sliding security grills for wide commercial openings. At Ascendia, all grills are specified and fabricated as part of the window system during the site survey — not selected post-installation from a catalogue.

Ready to Specify Your System?
Book a Free Site Visit

Ascendia does not sell windows from a catalogue. We engineer window systems from a site survey.

Before any measurement is taken, before any material is ordered, a trained Ascendia engineer visits your site to understand your building — the opening sizes, the floor level, the wind exposure, the climate zone, the security requirement, and how each room will use its windows every day. That assessment produces a complete system specification: every component defined, every material grade confirmed, every trade-off made explicit — before a single frame enters fabrication.

What you receive at the end of that process is a window system engineered for your home. Not a catalogue product. Not a standard configuration with an invoice. A system.
